U4GM Tips Endfield Patch 1.1 Set Esc to Exit Top View

You can spend an evening in Arknights: Endfield without firing a shot—just nudging machines, checking power, and flipping back and forth between camera modes. That loop is kind of the point, and it's why little control quirks get under your skin fast. If you're also the type who's juggling progression goals or even looking into Arknights endfield boosting, the last thing you want is to wrestle your keyboard every time you pop into Top View Mode.

Why the old toggle felt off

On PC, Caps Lock as the default "get me out of this view" key always felt like a weird choice. It's not where your hand naturally goes, and it's easy to hit it late, or hit it twice, or hit it and then wonder why your typing is suddenly yelling at you. Most players have years of muscle memory: Esc means back out, close, cancel, done. So when you're deep in factory planning and you need to bounce between overhead placement and boots-on-the-ground quickly, that extra half-second of hesitation adds up.

The Patch 1.1 setting you actually want

Patch 1.1 quietly fixes this with a simple option, but it's tucked away enough that plenty of people will miss it. Open Settings, then look across the top row of tabs and move all the way to the right. You're after the one called Others—the tab with the three-dot icon. From there, scroll until you see "Use Esc Key to Exit Top View Mode." Switch it on. That's it. No rebinding menus, no config files, no weird workarounds.

What changes once Esc does the job

The moment you enable it, the base loop feels cleaner. You jump into Top View to place a belt, rotate a module, check spacing, then tap Esc and you're instantly back in third-person. It sounds tiny, but it stops breaking your rhythm. You'll notice it most when you're doing lots of micro-edits—moving lines by a tile, re-running routes, or checking whether a new layout is blocking a path. And if you were already fine with Caps Lock, you can leave the setting off and keep Esc reserved for menus. It's optional, which is the right call.

Small PC touches that keep you playing

Stuff like this is the difference between "I'll tweak the base for five minutes" and "wait, where did the last hour go." It's a proper PC-minded change, and it makes the whole management side feel less like fighting the UI. While you're tuning your setup and thinking about efficiency—whether that's cleaner layouts, faster upgrades, or grabbing extra resources through services like U4GM—having Esc behave the way your hands expect keeps the game moving at your pace.
